I'm always amazed by the number of remakes that come out of the horror genre. Every single one of us have had our own experiences of horror and/or terror, yet the same stories are recycled year after year. Hell, Michael Bay has a production company, Platinum Dunes, almost entirely dedicated to producing horror remakes, with six on their resume since 2003 (and they've all be horrible, by the way). Still, Hollywood loves nothing more than a brand, so allow me to bring you the trailer for the next horror film to be given a modern day feel.

Bloody Disgusting has gotten its hands on what they are calling a "German Sales promo" (it's not actually in German) for Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day. Starring Rebecca De Mornay, Jaime King, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, and Shawn Ashmore, the film is about a mother and her two degenerate sons who break into their old home and terrorize the new residents. The film is a remake of the 1980s Charles Kaufman movie starring Beatrice Pons.

Check out the trailer below.

As much as I hate the concept behind horror remakes, I will admit that this is a pretty effective trailer. I've long been a fan of Rebecca De Mornay at she seems right at home here, playing a mom who never feels more proud of her sons than when they are raping and murdering. Provided they don't resort to cliches and actually pry some originality from the rehashed story, I don't see why this couldn't work. Mother's Day hits theaters on April 1st.
