Richard Ayoade's Submarine has now been the talk of two separate film festivals I've attended-- both in Toronto and at Sundance people were raving about the movie, which stars both familiar names like Sally Hawkins and Paddy Considine and newcomers Craig Roberts and Yasmin Paige, who are the film's stars. The movie is Ayoade's directorial debut after work on TV hits like The IT Crowd and The Mighty Boosh, and though the film has been compared-- pretty fairly-- to Wes Anderson, it also has a distinct and hilarious voice all its own.

It's also hard to describe what makes Submarine so unique, but now i no longer have to-- the film's first trailer has debuted on its Facebook page, and you can also watch it in the embedded trailer below. The trailer is a little more cutesy and quirky than the rest of the film, but it also gives you a good sense of the movie's sense of humor but also faith in its characters. Submarine hits theaters on April 18 in the U.K., but doesn't yet have a release date in the U.S. from distributor The Weinstein Company. Still keep an eye out for it, though, as it's bound to be as well-loved and discussed as it's been on the festival circuit since last September.
