There are few books ever written as beloved as Jack Kerouac's On The Road. While not for everybody, the story has spoken to and defined generations. As a result, there are many who are biting their fingernails about the Walter Salles-directed adaptation, as nobody wants to see their favorite book get absolutely ruined on screen (just ask anybody who loves F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby). Up until now we've only seen stills from the film which have seemed to capture the spirit of the beat generation, but today brings something better: a trailer.

The first preview for On The Road has been posted on the film's official Facebook page and you can watch it below.

The film stars Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund as Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty, two young men who meet after the death of Sal's father. Becoming fast friends, the two decide to hit the road together and go on self-discovery and reflection. The adaptation was written by Jose Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries) and also stars Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Alice Braga, Steve Buscemi, Terrence Howard, Elizabeth Moss and Tom Sturridge.
