Latest On The Road Poster Features Tom Sturridge In Character

Wait, there are other actors in Walter Salles’ On the Road adaptation besides Kristen Stewart? Okay, so KStew’s omnipresence has overshadowed marketing materials up to this point, but a recent Facebook post of a character image shows us co-star Tom Sturridge with the tagline “We’re alive!” Check it out below:

Penned by Jack Kerouac and published in 1957, On the Road is a seminal Beat Generation work that documents the author’s spontaneous road trips across our nation’s heartland. Sturridge, who broke out in Pirate Radio, will play Carlo Marx, who most believe was the “code” name for Beat poet Allen Ginsberg.

The main protagonist in Kerouac’s story is Sal (Sam Riley), a recent divorcee who takes to the open road with free-spirited pal Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund) in search of self-serving adventure. Stewart co-stars as Marylou, Dean’s first wife.

This character poster has dropped days after we got our first look at the film’s official trailer and the first character poster, featuring Viggo Mortensen. We likely will see plenty more in the coming weeks, which might give us our first look at Amy Adams and Kirsten Dunst in costume.

Now we’d like to learn more about Salles’ potential release date. IMDB says that the film will open overseas in May, with many speculating that it will make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. But there isn’t a concrete U.S. release date that I can find. Given Stewart’s involvement, that’s bound to change, and once it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.
