The last time I wrote about Grace of Monoco, the upcoming Grace Kelly biopic, I asked you, our readers, for suggestions as to who should play the classic beauty. In our comments section you threw out names like January Jones, Alexandra Breckenridge, Rosamund Pike and Jessica Chastain. Sadly none of those actresses have landed the part but the person who guessed Naomi Watts was close: it's her best friend.

According to Variety, Nicole Kidman is now in talks for the title role in the upcoming Grace of Monaco. The project is being directed by Olivier Dahan, who is best known for helming La Vie En Rose, the movie that won Marion Cotillard her Academy Award. Based on a script from the 2011 Black List (an annual list of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood), the story follows Kelly during the six months of 1962 when French leader Charles De Gaulle and Monaco’s Prince Rainier III began a fight over Monaco's existence as a tax haven. During that time, it was the actress, who was married to Rainier, who orchestrated political maneuverings that prevented disaster.

Kidman has been on a bit of a roll as of late. In late February she signed on for the memory loss thriller Before I Go To Sleep, which is to be directed by Rowan Joffe, and in March she took the place of Rachel Weisz in The Railway Man and will star alongside Colin Firth. She has two films coming out this year, including Lee Daniels' The Paperboy and Chan-wook Park's Stoker.
