Elizabeth Banks Takes Walk Of Shame

There are some women among today's crop of talented female actors that seem fearless when it comes to comedy. Elizabeth Banks is one of them. Though she has tackled dramatic performances in the past (The Hunger Games, People Like Us), she shines when there's humor involved in the role (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Zack and Miri Make a Porno). So It's always good news to hear she's starring in a comedy, particularly after her brief but memorable appearance in the recently released Pitch Perfect, which she also produced.

According to Variety, Banks is set to star in Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment's Walk of Shame, which is set to start shooting in Los Angeles early next year. Directed by Steven Brill, the comedy follows " an aspiring Los Angeles TV news anchor who loses an audition for her dream job, and goes out for an uncharacteristic night of partying that leads to waking in a stranger's bed with no money, no car, no memory and a phone message from her agent that tells her she actually won the audition." The plot has her attempting to navigate her way through a dangerous neighborhood trying to get to her new job in time to be on the air by 5:00 p.m.

And what are the odds that the missing memories of the night before will come into play throughout this comedic ordeal? Or I've just watched The Hangover - and other "what happened last night?" comedies - too many times. Regardless, the premise inspires an amusing mental picture of Banks on a sidewalk in a rundown neighborhood, hair a mess, makeup smudged, dress askew, stilettos clutched in one hand with a bewildered, hungover expression on her face. It sounds like a fun role.

Like Banks, Steven Brill is among the directors for Movie 43. His previous directing credits include Mr. Deeds and Little Nicky. He also wrote The Mighty Ducks.
