There are plenty of outspoken liberals among the Hollywood elite, but few of them proclaim their political views as loudly as Chicago-native John Cusack. Which makes this recent movie news very, very, very, very weird (yes, it deserves four "verys")

The Associated Press has learned from Cusack's production company, New Crime Productions that the actor is now developing a biopic about hyper hardcore conservative radio announcer Rush Limbaugh with the intention of starring in it. No details about the project's plot are revealed in the report, but Betty Thomas is attached to direct the movie and the company is "putting finishing touches on a script." Production is aiming to start next year.

Thomas, who began her career as an actress, has mixed it up over the course of her long career, making movies like Doctor Dolittle, Private Parts, 28 Days, I Spy, and John Tucker Must Die. She most recently helmed the 2009 family movie Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Cusack has had a busy year, with James McTeigue's The Raven and Lee Daniels' The Paperboy being released in theaters. He has an incredible number of upcoming projects as well, including the serial killer thriller The Frozen Ground with Nic Cage; the indie dramedy Adult World with Emma Roberts; and Daniels' The Butler, in which he plays Richard Nixon. He is currently filming a new thriller with Elijah Wood and Kerry Bishe called Grand Piano, which is about a concert pianist who is threatened with death if he can't perform a perfect show.
