"Based on a true story" is a tagline common to the horror genre, though the sources of these stories are often hard to trace. This is the case for The Haunting In Connecticut 2: Ghosts Of Georgia formerly known as The Haunting in Georgia. The film is set in 1988, Georgia at the new home of the Wyrick family. Initially, Lisa (Abigail Spencer), Andy (Chad Michael Murray) and their angelic four-year-old daughter Heidi (Emily Alyn Lind) are thrilled by its rambling yards and the house's history as a part of the Underground Railroad that helped runaway slaves make their way to freedom up north. But things change when little Heidi begins to collect a strange group of imaginary friends, including a hooded figure she insists is trouble. Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame figures in here somewhere as Lisa's sister.

This thriller will be a sort-of sequel to 2009's The Haunting In Connecticut. Reviled by critics and having made only $77 million worldwide, it's a surprise that movie has earned its own franchise. Still, the good news for those who found the first one wanting appears to be the two features have little in common beyond the premise of family haunted by the ghostly residents of their new home, and the promise it's based on a true story. Penned by Watch Over Me writer David Coggeshall, Ghosts Of Georgia will be the directorial debut of Tom Elkins, the editor who cut The Haunting In Connecticut as well as The Apparition.

There's no release date yet set for The Haunting In Connecticut 2: Ghosts Of Georgia. But if it succeeds at the box office, audiences can expect a third installment set in New York, as Gold Circle Films has already got Sean Hood (2011's Conan The Barbarian scribe) working out the screenplay.
