Atlas Shrugged Part II Will Hit Blu-ray In February

Atlas Shrugged Part II hit theaters in October in a limited release that left theaters as quietly as it entered. The film, which focuses on disappearing innovators and a collapsing economy, will soon be hitting Blu-ray and DVD, for fans who missed the flick during its initial release. Atlas Shrugged Part II will be available for purchase beginning on February 19, 2013.

Years ago, when initial rumors began richocheting around stating Ayn Rand’s famous novel, Atlas Shrugged, would be brought to life onscreen, I was very excited to see how a movie based on complicated conversations and theoretical ideas could be accomplished. Shot on a low budget and barely marketed, both Atlas Shrugged Part I and its sequel Atlas Shrugged Part II failed to be box office or critical successes. Still, if you’re a fan of Rand’s book, it might be worth it to catch the film on Blu-ray or DVD.

I’m actually a little surprised Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is not also offering a combo pack featuring both the first and second movies, but the good news is that the cover art for the Part II set is spectacular, with a strange greenish-blue skyline and a very industrial setting. If the acting and writing was as good as this box imagery, this movie could have rocked.

Additionally, Atlas Shrugged Part II will come with multiple bonus features, although it is a movie created and released on a low budget, which means there won’t be a ton of extra fodder on the disc. Notably, audio commentary from director John Putch is missing, but there might be enough bonus features to warrant a purchase, still.
