Michel Gondry's Back With Mood Indigo Trailer

With films to his credit like The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Be Kind Rewind and The Science of Sleep, Michel Gondry is considered by many to be among the most imaginative and whimsical of contemporary filmmakers. And while his take on the superhero genre, 2010's Green Hornet, was not well-received, he is back to his old and much beloved tricks with his upcoming romance Mood Indigo.

Based on Boris Vian's novel L’ Ecume des jours, Gondry's latest focuses on an unconventional love story. Amelie's Audrey Tautou co-stars with Romain Duris of L'Auberge Espagnole, playing Chloe and Nicholas, a pair of lovers whose happily ever after is threatened when Chloe sprouts a deadly water lily in her lungs. We got a sneak peek of the film last summer, when a string of production stills were released. Now, you can see the film's French trailer below, thanks to Vulture:

As you can see in the clip above, there will be plenty to marvel in Mood Indigo, from surreal office spaces to high-flying amusement park rides, and an underwater marriage ceremony complete with glass limo! Even though the trailer above gives no clue to the plot, it shows tons of whimsy and heart amid vibrant colors and awe-striking visuals. Plus, it not only boasts Tautou and Duris, but also Gad Elmaleh (Priceless, The Valet), and Omar Sy (The Intouchables, Micmacs). In short, this one is sure to be an art house hit here in the States. Now we just have to wait on a release date.

Mood Indigo opens in France on April 24th. A U.S. release is expected to follow later this year.
