Carrie Trailer Preview Shows A Teen Discovering Telekinetic Powers

Previous glimpses of the upcoming feature adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie have focused on the title character post-meltdown, all blood covered and glowering after things at the big dance got out of control - to say the least. This new snippet of the film, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, gives us a peek at the events leading up to that infamous outburst.

Taking on the role once famously portrayed by Sissy Spacek, Chloe Grace Moretz plays Carrie White, a timid outsider at her high school, who's stuck under the thumb of an overbearing mother. We catch a glimpse of Julianne Moore in that role in the video above, as she looks up when Carrie's upstairs getting her telekinesis on in disturbing fashion. Something tells me Mom's not going to be happy about that. The bed scene also seems like an obvious indication that Carrie's not entirely in control of these mind-powers, regardless of how exciting they are or whether or not there are other people who can do what she does. We all know where this is headed.

Actually, if you don't know where this is headed, go ahead and "spoil" yourself by reading Stephen King's novel. It's his first published work, released in 1974. Two years later, the film starring Spacek and John Travolta hit theaters. Netflix subscribers can watch the original adaptation of King's book streaming.

Jo Blo says the above preview is just a glimpse of more to come from ET tomorrow. Carrie arrives in theaters October 18.
