New Gravity Clip: Don't Let Go

Even though it stars two of the most famous people in the world, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity is really going to sell itself on one thing: its effects. And it's not about CGI monsters or giant explosions or anything you might expect. From the moment we heard about Gravity we were enthralled by descriptions of its 20-minute long takes and claustrophobic depiction of what happens when two astronauts-- played by Bullock and Clooney-- are stranded in space. And now that we're getting looks at the film, like the new one above, Cuaron seems to be delivering on those promises and then some.

This is just one of a series of looks at Gravity we've gotten lately, apparently trying to follow-up on the huge buzz the film earned at its Comic-Con presentation. This is the second of two new trailers that have been released this week alone; the previous clip gives us a sense of what happens to leave Bullock and Clooney in this precarious position. Check out the other trailer below:

With plans to open the Venice Film Festival ahead of its October 4 release, Gravity is planting a firm flag in the midst of the chaotic fall movie season. And even if you think you're terrified of getting set adrift in space, why wouldn't you want to see it? Cuaron is a master filmmaker who's been away from the screen for way too long, and as an obvious labor of love Gravity promises to show him back in complete command of the form. For yet another extended look at the film, check out the original first trailer below. It probably says more about why you could see it than anything we could write.
