Anchorman's Ron Burgundy Is Selling Cars In New Dodge Durango Commercials

Those watching the NFL on Sunday afternoon likely caught sight of a familiar face. Will Ferrell, in full Ron Burgundy character, hawked the Dodge Durango in not one but SIX car commercials, some involving either a horse or ballroom dancers (but not both in the same spot). One is above. The rest are below (thanks to Collider for digging up the last two):

I’m not sure how the last two, with the ballroom dancers, do anything to sell people on a Dodge Durango … but they are funny as hell.

Now, I’m torn. While the spots are generally funny, does Ferrell really need to stoop to car commercials to help promote Anchorman: The Legend Continues? More than most films due to reach theaters later this year, isn’t Anchorman one of those comedies that you can advertise by simply hanging a poster with a release date outside the local multiplex?

Anchorman 2

Ferrell, however, does actually have a history with commercials. Have you ever seen his spots for Old Milwauke beer?

The Dodge commercials, at the very least, remind audiences that Burgundy’s back, and he’s bringing the news crew (Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Christina Applegate) with him. Here’s the complete synopsis for the new film, which Paramount will have in theaters on December 20th.

With the 70's behind him, San Diego's top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) - All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York's first 24-hour news channel by storm.”
