First Footage Emerges From Darren Aronofsky's Noah

Darren Aronofsky's Noah ought to be one of the most visually captivating movies of the coming year. A short tease of it from Entertainment Tonight, a program famous for making everything look awful, is probably the worst way to see it. But I challenge you to resist the temptation to click on the video above anyway, because even in this context, Noah looks phenomenal. And the Entertainment Tonight push means we're that much closer to getting a proper look at it.

If you want even more quick-hit glimpses at the movie-- which, I must restate, is seriously the worst way to see a trailer-- here are two videos posted by Paramount UK's Instagram, one of them featuring some badass nature photography, the other British national treasure Emma Watson:

According to a tweet from Aronofsky himself, the first trailer for Noah will be attached to at least some screenings of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which opens next Friday. But in the meantime we have this, which gives glimpses of the fantastic landscapes and the amazing ark that were previously only seen in tweets from the set. Those landscapes and the ark are pretty much all you get here, along with surreal images of Crowe floating underwater in what appears to be a vision from God, but that's pretty much the gist of the classic Biblical Noah story anyway. What will be new is what Aronofsky adds to it, from CGI animals to the chaos that emerges before the flood begins. And, if they're smart, Paramount will be keeping that good stuff under wraps for a while longer.

The first poster for Noah has also emerged online, and you can check that out below. While we wait for the official trailer to debut, you can catch up on everything we know so far about Noah here. The movie opens March 28 next year.
