Watch Terminator 3 Get Ripped Apart In This New Video

Terminator: Genisys is only a few days away. This means that our thoughts can’t help but turn back to James Cameron’s opening double whammy to the franchise. But it also unfortunately means that we’re also forced to think about the two most recent Terminator films, which fail to come close to capturing the magic of the originals. How far off were they from The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day? Well, this video from Cinema Sins that shows us everything that’s wrong with Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, which is a lot.

As Cinema Sins rightly points out, Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines sees Skynet following the same plan that they’d created twice before in their attempt to kill John Conner. Here’s the thing though: that plan failed miserably on both occasions. Surely they should have come up with something new by this point.

Why are they trying again with such a flawed plan? Because this time the T-X that they’ve sent to July 24, 2004, not only has an endoskeleton with built-in weaponry and the ability to re-program other machines, but it looks like a woman too. And it can even make its boobs bigger on demand. Real subtle Hollywood.

Terminator 3 makes the same cavalcade of mistakes that we associate with many summer blockbusters. Characters miraculously survive being hurled around in car chases, expositional dialogue and clichéd plot devices pop up endlessly, while the T-X repeatedly misses her opportunity to kill John Conner and Kate Brewster, even though she possesses a wide enough arsenal to do it in a second.

But, despite these problems I have to admit that I’ve always had a soft spot for Moscow’s film. Yeah, it's brainless, loud, and explosive, but it’s also a lot of fun. Plus, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. I mean, the “Talk to the hand” joke always makes me chortle, while Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator is dressed like a stripper for the entire movie.

Unfortunately, because of the excellence of the originals though, it was impossible not to be disappointed with Rise Of The Machines. Then, in 2009, Terminator Salvation proved that things could actually get even worse for the franchise, as Christian Bale and McG failed miserably to reinvigorate the series. We'll just have to cross our fingers and toes that Terminator: Genisys can atone for these mistakes when it finally hits cinemas on July 1.
