Vin Diesel Just Dropped The Name Of The Next Fast & Furious Movie

Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the marketing meetings where they devise the titles of the next movies. "Do we use the ampersand this time?" "Which word did we focus on the last time out?" "Are people going to know which franchise this is referring to?" After seven chapters in the long-running muscle car series, the titles are getting a little repetitive, and will dip back into the well of familiarity once again, if Vin Diesel can be believed.

The actor appeared at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night, and gave a loving tribute to his late friend and Furious partner, Paul Walker. During said speech, Diesel thanked Walker’s teenage daughter, Meadow, for helping inspire them through production. Then he let it be known:

I love all of you. I love all of you! And… until Fast 8."

Start printing the posters! We have a title. Listen to Vin Diesel in context. He drops the name at the 2:10 mark.

That being said, Diesel previously hinted at a possible title for the eighth movie that actually would have been perfect, and now it sounds like they are going away from it. In talking about how he and Paul Walker talked about the next chapter, he said that it was basically destiny keeping this series on track. So he suggested that they call it "F8," or "Fate." I still think they need to incorporate that into the marketing campaign.

What do we know about Fast 8 at the moment? Not a ton. The main cast is expected to return, including Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris and Tyrese. I wonder if Jordana Brewster will sit the next one out, as she and Paul Walker essentially were "retired" at the end of Furious 7. We also expect Kurt Russell to be back for this next movie, which is due in theaters on April 14, 2017.
