Who Josh Brolin Is Most Excited For Thanos To Face Off In Infinity War

The Mad Titan Thanos has faced off against numerous heavy-hitters of the Marvel Universe since his first appearance in 1973. With Josh Brolin primed and ready to take on the entire heroic roster of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Infinity War, just which hero is he most excited to take on?

Brolin recently spoke to MTV News about his impending battle with Earth’s mightiest heroes as well as the villain’s egalitarian tendency towards their destruction,

I don’t have a favorite because it’s me against all of them… I think the entirety is what I’m most looking forward to. Each and every one. I’m bringing the wrath.

Now if those words aren’t enough to get any comic book fan excited about what Marvel’s Phase 3 has to offer, then I sincerely don’t know what will. The answer also provides of scale with regards to the threat that Thanos alone presents; while Loki is most certainly a great villain, his army did most of the heavy lifting to present a threat in The Avengers, and James Spader’s Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron fell somewhat flat in the eyes of many fans. Thanos’ "wrath" promises one of the most bloody, visceral, and all around epic battles we have see in an Avengers film yet. Given the ensemble nature of The Avengers films – as well as the scope of the threat presented by Thanos – it’s a safe bet that each and every Avenger will get their own shot at The Mad Titan.

If Steve Rogers is lucky enough to survive the events of his next standalone film – Captain America: Civil War – then we could even potentially have a chance to see The First Avenger square off against Thanos when all of the other heroes have fallen. This moment would provide a deep emotional catharsis for the audience, as well as give directors Anthony and Joe Russo an opportunity to adapt one of the most iconic Marvel Comics moments of all time.

Brolin’s equivocal answer seems intentionally vague, and designed to excite fans of each member of The Avengers roster. It’s an interesting change when we consider that last year Brolin admitted to having a personal rivalry with Robert Downy Jr., indicating that will likely translate over to the dynamic between Thanos and Tony Stark. It makes sense, especially when we consider that the first ever appearance of Thanos was in issue of Iron Man in 1973.

Thanos has appeared off and on throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since he reared his head at the end of The Avengers in 2012. He has maintained a constant, ominous presence for each of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but we will still have to wait until May 4, 2018 to see him finally take them on in Avengers: Infinity War Part I.
