Australian actor and all-around handsomeness expert Hugh Jackman has become synonymous with the role of Wolverine. Over the last 16 years, he has portrayed the clawed Canadian X-Man in no less than seven films – including two solo outings. With so much experience, and so many great moments, you would think it difficult for Jackman to pinpoint his favorite Wolverine moment of all time – you would be wrong. According to a recent interview, Jackman absolutely loves his cameo appearance in X-Men: First Class. The appearance completely distills Wolverine down to the essence of the character: a hard drinking, smoking, anti-social tough guy who has absolutely no patience for people wasting his time. He revealed this preference during a recent interview with Digital Spy to promote the release of his new film Pan. Jackman clearly has a special place in his heart for that scene as he has mentioned it before, such as a few months ago when he surprised a young Wolverine fan in Australia – although he cleaned up the language, being the gentleman that he is.
Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine has been characterized by numerous iconic moments. These rang from his encounters with Magneto (Ian McKellan and Michael Fassbender), his participation in the Weapon X program, or even battles through time with Sabretooth during his first solo film – easily the best part of the entire film. As noted by the interviewer from Digital Spy, the Hugh Jackman-sized hole left in the X-Men franchise will be impossibly difficult to fill when he departs after his next outing. When asked about any advice he may have for his successor, Jackman quickly noted that getting in proper shape for the role will require at least six months of training to acquire the necessary muscle for Wolverine – and that he learned that the hard way on the first X-Men film all the way back in 2000.

Although he may be on his way out from the iconic role, Jackman is not done yet. He has a distinct and notable passion for the character, meaning aside from his final solo outing, we should not rule out the possibility that he may show up for yet another cameo appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse when it hits theaters next summer. With numerous rumors pointing to his final outing as Wolverine being an adaptation of the iconic Old Man Logan storyline, his all-time favorite moment in the role may very well still be ahead of him.
