Watch Disney's Alice Through The Looking Glass TV Spot Now

We’re now just a few short days away from the 2016 Super Bowl. While sports fans will be excited about that - because they’ll finally get to see the Carolina Panthers take on the Denver Broncos - there’s a healthy amount of viewers who are just as excited because of the wave of new movie trailers that will be released during the contest. But, it turns out we don’t have to wait until Sunday’s match to see the latest promo for Alice Through The Looking Glass. That’s because Disney has jumped the gun by releasing it a few days early. Get your eyes wrapped around it below.

While it’s obviously rather exciting just to see new footage for the lavish Alice In Wonderland sequel, posted on Disney's YouTube page, it also grabs you by the emotional cojones with its use of Alan Rickman’s instantly recognizable dulcet tones as its voice-over. That's because Alice Through The Looking Glass will actually be Alan Rickman’s final film following his death last month, as he reprises the role of Absolem the Caterpillar.

Obviously, that’s one reason to go and see Alice Through The Looking Glass. However, the teaser trailer showcases numerous other reasons why Alice Through The Looking Glass should be one of the most enjoyable films of the summer. The 30-second tease gave us a quick look at the cavalcade of set-pieces that the film will possess, each of which looks to be vastly different from the last. Yet, despite how eclectic they seem, they each appear to be luscious, extravagant, and tantalisingly over the top.

It will be interesting to see if Alice Through The Looking Glass can match the impressive box office efforts of its predecessor. That’s because, even though Tim Burton’s dark and twisted, as well as loose, take on Lewis Carroll’s fantasy extravaganza only received mixed reviews, it took in the staggering amount of $1.025 billion at the box office.

Tim Burton isn’t returning for the follow-up. In fact, rather excitingly, Burton has been replaced by James Bobin as director on the project. And anyone who has seen The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted will know exactly why Bobin’s is the perfect choice to take over from Burton, especially as it’ll be interesting to see what he can do with such a gargantuan budget to play with.

Alice Through The Looking Glass will be released on May 27, 2016, and it will see Mia Wasikowska once again star as Alice, who returns to Underland to try and save Johnny Depp’s Mad Matter. Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Rhys Ifans will each co-star too. And it all looks rather delightful.
