New Ninja Turtles Trailer Shows A Funnier Tone

Y’all got jokes, huh? With that one line we now know exactly what we're in for; if there’s one thing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have become known for over the years, it’s their ability to crack a great joke while battling evil. Sadly, some of their more recent movies have disregarded that idea in favor of framing them as somber heroes stricken by their feelings as outsiders. Luckily for all of us longtime fans of the adolescent reptiles, all evidence points to the notion that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows aims to bring the team of superheroes back to their comedic roots. Check out the latest trailer for the film and prepare to chuckle.

Set to the music of The Beastie Boys "No Sleep Till Brooklyn," the trailer follows the Ninja Turtles as New York City becomes better acquainted with them. As they quite literally came out of the shadows in the original film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will see them take a more prominent superhero role on the mean streets of the Big Apple. Along the way they encounter new villains, such as Bebop and Rocksteady, but manage to make jokes the entire time – even when Raphael finds himself plastered across the windshield of a plane.

Does any of this mean that the sci-fi film has sacrificed its ability to tell an action packed, dramatic story? Well, we haven’t seen it yet, but based upon the trailer we don’t think that’s the case. Everyone from the Turtles, to Stephen Amell’s Casey Jones, to Megan Fox’s April O’Neil gets to run, jump and fight throughout the duration of the trailer, but the whole thing is presented in an incredibly light-hearted, and accessible manner.

Bringing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to a happier place is the absolute best thing that the sequel could have possibly done. For too long Hollywood has operated under the idea that every hero deserves a dark and gritty tone. While that works for someone like Batman or Daredevil, the Ninja Turtles actually enjoy what they do; they have fulfilling lives full of brotherhood, adventure, and pizza. This movie seems to be brining them back to their roots by giving them more opportunities to crack wise with one another while still bringing the action in spades.

We will bring you all of the latest and greatest information related to the upcoming release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows as it becomes available to us. The titular turtles will blast their way into theaters on June 3.
