Justice League Part Two Might Have A Whole New Writer

Although it’s still in its infancy, the DC Extended Universe has an incredibly deep pool of talent to draw from. From actors to directors, there’s an rather rich pedigree of filmmaking skill within just about every DCEU film currently in development. One of these talented individuals is Academy Award winning screenwriter Chris Terrio. However, following his efforts on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League Part One, he may step down and let another writer tackle Justice League Part Two.

During a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League Part One writer Chris Terrio admitted that he may not return for Justice League Part Two:

I have written Justice League Part One, but I won’t necessarily write Part Two. This has been the most rigorous intellectual exercise I’ve had in my writing life. For Batman v Superman, I wanted to really dig into everything from ideas about American power to the structure of revenge tragedies to the huge canon of DC Comics to Amazon mythology. For Justice League, I could be reading in the same day about red- and blueshifts in physics, Diodorus of Sicily and his account of the war between Amazons and Atlanteans, or deep-sea biology and what kind of life plausibly might be in the Mariana Trench.

So after two DC movies with Warner Bros. the Oscar winner may very well call it quits. At this point the second Justice League film remains a long way off, and many things can change in that time. Whether or not the Argo screenwriter returns for the second installment likely hinges on the positive or negative response to his initial efforts.

Although he might not return for the second Justice League film, we have to admit that we are absolutely blown away by the concepts the film might explore. For all of their differences, Batman and Superman hail from the same world. However, when Justice League Part One brings in characters like Ezra Miller's Flash, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, the possibilities for storytelling increase exponentially. Justice League Part One could explore hard sci-fi, as well as mystical, mythological avenues of the entire DCEU in a way that actually draws inspiration from every angle of the Justice League roster.

Of course, even if he doesn’t write Justice League Part Two, Chris Terrio could still maintain a presence in the DCEU. Much like Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon over at Marvel Studios, Terrio could stick around to help consult on stories for future DC movies, and help future screenwriters with creative direction.

We will keep you up to date regarding any and all details related to Chris Terrio’s involvement with the DCEU. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice looks simply amazing, and we love the angle he seems to have taken with the upcoming Justice League Part One. Be sure to check out his first foray into the DCEU when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters later this month on March 25.
