CBGB Trailer: Alan Rickman Hosts Punk Rock Icons In Musical Biopic
The fun of CBGB, so far, is seeing how close the contemporary stand-ins come to resembling their classic-rock counterparts. Though they are only shown as part of a rapid montage and a few quick snippets of footage, the actors cast as Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Marky Ramone look spot on. And Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins does a mean Iggy Pop.
Freddie Rodriguez To Become A Druggie For CBGB
For a while it looked like Freddy Rodriguez was going to be a star. He earned praise for his supporting role on the hit HBO show Six Feet Under and seemed to get his big break when director Robert Rodriguez cast him as the lead in Planet Terror, the filmmaker's half of the double-feature Grindhouse. Much to everyone's disappointment, however, Grindhouse wound up being a flop, opening at number four at the box office and pulling in only $11.6 million...

The Hangover's Justin Bartha Joins The Band With Rupert Grint In CBGB
While Justin Bartha's character Doug was kind of crucial to the whole plot of the movie, he really wasn't around much. This was his friends' adventure and as the groom, Doug was just along for the ride (and a really bad sunburn). I'm looking forward to seeing much more of the actor when he stars in NBC's upcoming Ryan Murphy/Allison Adler created comedy series The New Normal, which will have Bartha starring alongside The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells.

Ashley Greene To Star In CBGB
Ashley Greene has already gotten involved in numerous non-vampire related projects amidst her involvement in the ever popular and soon-to-be-ending Twilight Saga. This includes a handful of episodes of ABC's short-lived period drama Pan Am, in which she played Amanda Mason for the latter part of the series' brief run. The 60's seemed to suit her nicely as far as the costumes, hair and make-up.

Foo Fighters Drummer Cast As Iggy Pop In CBGB
Dave Grohl, lead singer of the Foo Fighters and former drummer for Nirvana, has been known to dabble in acting. While he's never had a starring role or even anything that could really being considered a supporting role, he took part in movies like The Muppets (where he played the Animal replacement in The Moopets) and Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny (where he played Satan). Now one of his bandmates is getting in on the whole Hollywood thing as well.

The Randall Miller written/directed indie film CBGB is shaping up to have a pretty solid looking cast, with Malin Akerman recently brought on board to join Alan Rickman and Rupert Grint in the film, which tells the story of the legendary New York music venue. And now it looks like one of the stars of CBS' The Big Bang Theory is set to join the cast.

Alan Rickman Will Play CBGB Founder Hilly Kristal In Biopic
The founder passed away a few years ago, not long after CBGB closed its doors over a rent dispute, but his legacy has lived on through hundreds of musicians he championed and now, it will live on through Alan Rickman. The popular British actor has signed on to play Kristal in a new biopic that will chart the life of the club he stood watch over for so many years.

Legendary Rock Club CBGB Gets A Biopic Of Sorts
The film will focus on a pretty limited period of time, 1974 to 1976, when The Ramones, Television, The Talking Heads, Smith and others were all getting their start. The movie will likely be a pretty flattering portrait of Kristal, who's described as a "surrogate parent" to many of the groups who played there frequently

Did Punk's Soul Leave With CBGB?
I didn’t even know what to say when my girl was watching E!, and there's John Varvatos in the bones of CBGB talking about how he wanted to make the store rocker and punk and keep the dream alive. Yeah, like Johnny Ramone would ever be seen stooping around in $500 intentionally torn jeans. John Varvatos is as rocker as Dave Navarro spewing baby-talk at Carmen Electra on MTV
