Chronicle 2 Moving On Without Screenwriter Max Landis

This brings us to today, and Landis's public acknowledgement that he's no longer involved with Chronicle 2 and new writers will be unveiled in short order. But don't cry for Landis; his star is still on the rise. He's got a pair of scripts in development: one an untitled Frankenstein project that has Daniel Radcliffe attached to play Igor, the other an action-comedy called Good Time Gang that has Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill on board.

While I wasn't as bit a fan of Chronicle as I know a lot of people are, I do have to give it credit for what it did in terms of creating a new approach to the superhero genre and the way it tackled its darker themes. But what's the point of doing Chronicle 2 if you're just going to have the same thing happen again and fail to expand on the world the story is taking place in? It seems like a waste.

Max Landis Hired To Script Chronicle Sequel

Max Landis, who developed the story for Chronicle along with director Josh Trank and wrote the screenplay himself, has been hired by 20th Century Fox to write a sequel. Since arriving in theaters on February 3rd the title has been a box office titan, opening at number one and pulling in $22 million in its first week and making a grand total of $105 million internationally since.
