US Senator Denies Selling Internship To Girls Gone Wild

U.S. Senator Mark Pryor is doing everything he can to quickly distance himself from a story that’s equal parts comedic and strange. Earlier this week, an online auction was held for charity in which a summer internship to work with the politician in Washington DC was given away. Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis bested his competitors with a twenty-five hundred dollar bid with an eye toward giving away the door-opening experience as part of a prize package for the winner of his reality show The Search For The Hottest Girl In America. Now Pryor is claiming the entire auction was a complete hoax he had no part in.

The Senator’s office released a statement to TMZ earlier today, claiming the FBI has been called in to figure out who is responsible for “fraudulently attempting to sell a government position”. As of press time, no one’s quite sure what to make of the strange situation, but everyone does seem to agree on one thing: Francis is a victim and not at fault. The polarizing entrepreneur released his own statement this morning as well, saying he bid in good faith without any idea the whole thing was not legitimate.

Part of me appreciates the cleverness of selling a fake internship, but whoever was responsible for this had to know they’d be caught eventually. The Federal Government doesn’t take too kindly to being impersonated.
