Cynthia Nixon Weds Partner Of 8 Years

Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon got engaged during a rally for same-sex marriage. Thus, many observers thought she’d be among the first in line to tie the knot once New York officially legalized almost a year ago, but it turns out she and partner Christine Marinoni weren’t really in that much of a hurry. They bided their time, waited for the right moment and finally exchanged their vows in a ceremony over the weekend.

The happy news was confirmed to People Magazine, but beyond the basic story, very little has been released publically. We do know Nixon wore a custom Carolina Herrera dress, but pictures haven’t even emerged of what it looked like. Given how much time the actress has spent around elegant clothes during her career, one would imagine it was beautiful.

Marinoni and Nixon have been together for eight years. The former is an education activist, and she gave birth to a son named Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni a little more than a year ago. There’s no word on whether the little guy’s presence was what delayed the ceremony for so long, but regardless, the two have finally formally committed for the rest of their lives.

Pop Blend’s thoughts go out to the happy couple, as well as to son Max and Nixon’s two other children from her first relationship. Here’s to hoping the modern family blends effectively and always turns to each other for care and support.
