Magic Mike Will Probably Move Its Thongs To Broadway

You need two things to be a successful stripper: a desirable body and an over abundance of confidence. Magic Mike solidified the first problem by hiring Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and pretty much every other good looking dude in Hollywood. As for the second problem, well, I think this story speaks for itself.

Producer and writer Reid Carolin is so confident of Magic Mike’s impending success that he’s already in the middle of adapting it into a Broadway show. In fact, he’s already more excited about it than the film version because he thinks it’ll allow screaming ladies to actually be participants in the show. Whether that’ll come via actually calling swooning ladies up on stage or just allowing them to scream and tip to their heart’s content is unclear, but regardless, all married men within a one hundred mile radius of New York should get a free night to go out with their buddies within the next few years.

Here’s what Carolin told USA Today…

"We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story.

As for the original cast, Alex Pettyfer has already said he’d love to play his role, at least for awhile on Broadway, and if it all comes together, he’d like to convince the rest of the guys to do a special one night only performance in which they all play their original characters. That sounds like a bit of a longshot given how much energy, time and learning of choreography it takes to put together an evening on Broadway, but I’ll still cross my fingers it happens in honor of all the women and gay dudes I know.
