Hilary Duff Loves Being A Young Mother

Hilary Duff’s baby boy, Luca, is nearly eight months old. During the time her little tyke has grown, the actress has also hit another milestone—her 25th birthday. And although she was in her early twenties when she had her first child, she believes having her first child at a fairly young age was the right decision.

For Duff, there’s not a lot of looking back, although the one problem with having children at a fairly young age is that the actress’ peers have not gotten into procreation at this juncture.

The only thing that's hard is that I don't have a lot of people my age who have babies. So I'm at a totally different spot than a lot of my friends. But they're all very excited about hanging out with Luca…I don't really know what the alternative is. I do have a lot of energy, I feel great, and I had a really easy pregnancy.”

The first few months with her kid were exhausting, but the new(ish) mom is adjusting quite nicely. Now, she tells Parents she has the whole mommy thing under control.

“You know what, I think that I work well under pressure. So I'll step up to the plate when there's a screaming baby and he needs something. It's an automatic reaction: "What?! Anything. I'll do it!'”

Duff has had a great experience with her firstborn, and she has plans in the future to have another child. As the actress herself has noted, having a baby early means she gets to spend plenty of time with Luca before she even has to think about other kids.

“I want to have more kids and I'm looking forward to doing that, but I'm not in any rush. I think sometimes maybe if you start a little later you're in a hurry to get all the kids you want, and I have a little time to spread that out.”

She has a point. Even if she and her husband, Mike Comrie, wait five years to before having another baby, Duff will only be thirty. The mom has all the time in the world, and hopefully her second pregnancy will be even easier than the first.
