Taylor Swift Finally Tells Us Who I Knew You Were Trouble Is About

Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” may have generated more than its share of unfavorable comparisons, but the song is still a massive hit. Its video has generated almost eighty million views on YouTube and countless articles speculating about which of the singer’s many ex-boyfriends the track is about. Thankfully, we finally have our answer, at least if we read between the lines.

During an interview with The Times, Swift talked about how pleased she was with her performance of “I Knew You Were Trouble” at the Brits earlier this year. Here’s what she had to say about really capturing the essence of the song…

“Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching.”

Swift has plenty of ex-boyfriends, but the only person that sentence could possibly refer to is One Direction singer Harry Styles. He was at the ceremony when she busted out her rendition, and thus, he has to be the one she penned the track about. Given their troubled history and the timing, that admission shouldn’t come as a big shock. Still, it’s nicer to know for sure than to waste time wondering.

Here’s to hoping Swift eventually starts writing songs about how happy she is with her husband rather than how pissed she is at her ex-boyfriends.
