Jessica Simpson Has Tom Sawyer-Themed Baby Shower

Jessica Simpson is well into her second pregnancy with fiancé Eric Johnson, and to celebrate the upcoming birth of her baby boy, the 32-year-old mom had a baby shower for her tyke held by her mother, Tina. While paper tablecloths and basic themes are a norm at the average baby shower, Simpson and her family and friends held a more stylin’ party.

A prominent person can’t have a high-end baby shower without the help of an event planner, and planner Mindy Weiss put all of the little details together. The theme for the event was Tom Sawyer--which I guess means sort-of Americana related—and a cute cake with the popular figure from American literature was included. True to theme, checkerboard picnic tablecloths were used, and southern comfort food was served for the adults while the kiddies were able to eat grilled cheese. The event even featured a banjo player, which sounds a little hokey but all in good fun.

People was on hand for the event, which occurred in Los Angeles near a pond at Hotel Bel-Air. The singer, actress, and Fashion Star judge and mentor spoke to the outlet, discussing all of the cute little gifts her friends and family, including sister Ashlee, gave to her.

“I’m so excited to have a son. He got all these cute vintage cars and I got a lot of little leather jackets I can’t wait to try out!”

Overall, the event sounds like a party well-planned. The mom-to-be only has a little while longer, and between her busy schedule and working out with a trainer this pregnancy, she deserves a little time to be doted on.
