Shia LaBeouf had a rough night on Thursday. The actor showed up to a performance of Cabaret at Studio 54 and was allegedly so disruptive, he was hauled out of the theater and taken to jail. In the hours since, the story has been repeated all over the Internet, but apparently, that fiasco wasn’t the only one the actor was involved in on Thursday. Just hours before, he allegedly got into a strange altercation with a homeless man.
According to TMZ, Shia LaBeouf was wandering the streets of New York City when he came across a homeless dude carrying a hat. Whether or not the two men knew each other is unclear, but the actor allegedly started screaming at the random dude about stealing his hat, as if they were long lost friends. When he didn’t give it back, LaBeouf allegedly chased him through the streets.
Onlookers reportedly told the outlet that the actor wasn’t making a whole lot of sense and seemed out of it. That would jive with his behavior later that allegedly involved shouting at people during the performance of Cabaret and spitting at the police officers who showed up to take him straight to jail.
The Shia LaBeouf situation has rapidly evolved from humorous to uncomfortable and kind of sad. When he was getting kicked out of Walgreens in Chicago and performing in bizarre music videos (NSFW), it was convenient to refer to him as an eccentric weirdo, but the more stuff like this happens, the more likely it is that there may be an addiction or personality problem going on.
Shia LaBeouf is currently out on bail. Here’s to hoping he gets his act together sooner rater than later.
