These Harry Potter Posters Are Gorgeous And Only For Sale For A Week

When you're a Harry Potter fanatic, it can be difficult to decide how best to display one's appreciation for all things Potter in one's home. I aim for tasteful, with a side of totally geeky. That means being especially selective when it comes to Harry Potter home decor. These new Harry Potter posters from Olly Moss are too gorgeous not to appreciate, and the only tough decision for hardcore fans like myself, is probably figuring out which one to get. And there's less than a week to decide.

Harry Potter Olly Moss poster

In collaboration with J.K. Rowling's official Harry Potter website, Pottermore, Olly Moss actually designed seven new covers for the Harry Potter books, specifically for the German Harry Potter audio books that are set to be re-released. As cool as it might be to listen to Harry Potter in German (anyone up for Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Azkaban?), those who don't speak German aren't likely to purchase the audiobooks just for their stunning box art. So it's wonderful that the actual artwork is being release separately. All seven covers are for sale in poster form.

Each giclee art print is 16 x 24", hand-numbered and officially licensed. Individual posters are $50.00 each, plus shipping. But you can get the full set of seven for $275.00 (plus shipping).

A key detail about the posters is that these are timed edition, so they'll only be on sale until 3 p.m. BST on Monday, October 25th. Also, keep in mind that posters won't even begin to ship until 2-3 months, so maybe don't count on getting them by Christmas. On the bright side, they're not selling out between now and October 25. The website says they'll print to meet all orders.

As mentioned, it can be tricky for an adult Harry Potter fan to figure out how best to surround themselves with reminders of J.K. Rowling's magical world, without turning their home into something that might look like a cross between a Harry Potter museum and a gift shop. It's something I've been especially mindful of the more years go by, the more Harry Potter stuff I accumulate, and the more (and more, and more) Harry Potter stuff becomes available for purchase and collection. I want to be able to love every reminder of my favorite book series, without desensitizing myself of Harry Potter by completely saturating my life (and home) with it. Which means I have to not-get most of the cool Harry Potter stuff I see. I try to only buy what I absolutely need to have. That limitation has provided a reasonable balance... for now. In the case of these posters, ordering one was a no-brainer. They're subtle, nostalgic, tasteful and totally Potter in all the right ways.

But I was torn between Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix. I love the flying thestrals on the Phoenix poster, and it's hard not to feel a swell of happiness at the sight of Harry's patronus stag on the Prisoner of Azkaban poster. In the end though, I went with Philosopher's Stone. As much as I love the other ones, there's nothing quite as iconic to the Harry Potter universe as the sight of Harry and Hagrid looking out at Hogwarts in the distance. You can almost feel the sparks of a budding adventure in the air just looking at it.

Of course, now I'll have to spend now and the next 2-3 months waiting for it (and saving up for a frame).

In related news, those awesome Harry Potter-inspired makeup brushes are tragically sold out at the moment.
