Amanda Bynes: Do You Think She Was Drunk During The Accident?

When Amanda Bynes was first hauled in for driving under the influence, the facts of her case sounded pretty damning. The actress accidentally ran into a police officer’s car at around 3 AM. Then, following a brief interview, she was taken to the station on suspicion of driving under the influence. Her mug shot was taken, and she was released the next morning, presumably to put out a statement apologizing for her actions. Days later however, that statement still hasn’t come, and the Hairspray star’s father has made the rounds to defend his daughter.

According to Rick Bynes, his child has to be innocent because she never drinks. Further, he’s convinced the cop was actually at fault for the accident too and simply took the celebrity in because she responded very emotionally to the situation. He claims to have been told she blew a .00 on the breathalyzer and thus, shouldn’t have been given a hard time.

Exactly where the truth lies will likely come out in court, but for now, it’s more a matter of guesswork than anything else. Bynes was reportedly left at the station overnight. That’s standard policy when the accused person has been apprehended in a drunken or drug-addled state. Given her lack of prior issues and the general shock most people felt when she was arrested however, I suppose it’s not inconceivable that she really did blow a .00 and was very distraught about what happened.
