Jennifer Aniston is hard-hearted when it comes to love - she once turned down a romantic marriage proposal in a crowded restaurant.

The Friends star was working as a waitress before her acting career took off in the 1990s, and admits she had no time for traditional gestures of affection. And she was horrified when an on/off lover arrived at her work and went down on one knee - in front of his mother.

She tells USA Today, "I broke up with a guy and he tried to get back together with me by bringing his mother to a restaurant I worked at and getting down on one knee in the middle of the restaurant. The whole restaurant started applauding and I was like, 'Get up!' It was horrible." (ZN/WNWCU/LR)
