Anna Nicole on Law & Order

The Anna Nicole Smith story is lurid, full of questionable behavior and questionable people – a story more akin to a bad TV plot line than real life. So it should be no surprise to anyone that the freakish events that happened toward the end of her life, that dominated the tabloids, are already making it to the small screen.

Writers for Law and Order: Criminal Intent have been snagged by FoxNews in the act of turning the Smith saga into a fictional story for detectives Goren and Eames to ponder over. Look for Skating With The Celebrities home-wrecker Kristy Swanson to play an Anna Nicole knock-off. But as of yet there’s no lock on their version of her lawyer and (possible) baby daddy, Howard K. Stern. Ironically, the story has been publicized as Howard K. versus Larry Birkhead as they fight for paternity, yet show bards saw fit to dump the whole Birkhead section!

What’s most interesting about this boob tube foray into the Smith fray is that the show will most likely come to a conclusion on the matter (i.e., the detectives will possibly solve the case). Will the show’s solution put ideas in the public’s head? If the L&O crew find the phony lawyer responsible for murdering the phony celebrity, would that affect perception of any future prosecution? And of course, the biggest question: will there be any weeping judges in the script? Probably not. Anyway, who’d believe that one?
