Kevin Bacon and his brilliant wife Kyra Sedgwick, arguably the third best acting couple in the world behind Macy/ Huffman and Bening/ Beatty, are the latest publicized victims of former Nasdaq chairman Bernie Madoff’s epic Ponzi scheme. For those of you who are unaware of who the hell Charles Ponzi is and what he did, let me briefly explain what exactly a Ponzi scheme is. Basically, a person convinces people to invest their money in some sort of business or venture with promises of large profits. The mastermind then convinces more people to invest, paying the original crop of investors with the new money, while keeping some for himself. And on and on it grows until the scheme is exposed or the mastermind vanishes with the scratch.

According to People, Bacon and Sedgwick lost an undisclosed amount of money thanks to Bernie Madoff, who is currently filling out an itemized list of all his assets after the government busted him a few weeks ago. Other famous victims thus far have included Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Eric Roth. The moral of the story: always ask as many questions as possible.
