Alec Baldwin will travel all the way to Vietnam to perform one of his first radio broadcasts for the New York Philharmonic orchestra. Music director Alan Gilbert named the actor as the voice of the orchestra's radio programme in January (09), with music enthusiast Baldwin admitting it was his "dream job".

But the 30 Rock star was stunned when he learned he was being whisked away to the capital city of Hanoi to join the orchestra's tour for the Inside the Music programme, which kicks off on 10 October (09).

Baldwin says, "They called me the other day and said, 'Do you want to go on a portion of the tour or only one of the shows?' There would be a live component that I would narrate. And they said, 'You're going to go to Hanoi.' And I said, 'I'm sorry, what did you say?' I refused to believe I was going to go to Hanoi with them. And I am going to go to Vietnam with them and do the show in October." (JMA/WNVLET/IG)
