Sometimes when members of bands get older, it seems like a ripe time to reunite and wash any old feuds under the bridge. The case holds true for Sixties icons The Beach Boys, who are finally planning a reunion tour Ė a 50th reunion tour, to be exact. The band initially planned to confirm the upcoming tour at the Grammy announcement awards on November 30, but after a snafu with the ceremony, the details didnít surface until today.
Joining the tour are Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks. If you plan to score tickets, you wonít have long to wait: the 50th anniversary tour will kick off in April at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. According to Rolling Stone, an impressive 50 dates have been planned.
With the 50 year-milestone coming up, the original Smile recordings finally being made available, and the re-recording of the track ďDo it AgainĒ for a brand new album, 2012 seems like it will be a great year for The Beach Boys to put aside any differences and work as a team once more.
If you donít think youíll be catching the tour, try to show up for the Grammys. Jardine says the band has a surprise planned.
"There will be a surprise at the Grammys. We'll do something really exciting. There's a lot of interest in it, which is nice. It's going to be a very big operation."
Iím not sure they can top just reuniting, but Iím certainly in.
