We love giving out awards. It seems every organization, publication and critics’ group hands out trophies and accolades at some point during the year, and as a result, winning something isn’t nearly as impressive as it once was. That being said, there are a few awards that still mean something, and believe it or not, People Magazine’s sexiest man alive is one of them. Sure, it might not have the acclaim of an Oscar or the prestige of a Tony, but when the publication announces each year, many Americans take note and debate whether or not the right guy won. That’s more thought than most give to The Critics Choice Awards or even The Grammys.

Earlier today, Bradley Cooper was announced as the winner. The magazine’s last two selections of Ryan Reynolds and Johnny Depp failed to generate much controversy, but this time around, many observers are arguing Ryan Gosling got cheated. Maybe that’s the case. Even if it’s not, there are still a ton of men including previous winners George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon that would have likely inspired less of an outcry.

The safest choice doesn’t necessarily equate with the best choice though, and Cooper has his defenders who think his roles in The Hangover and Limitless have propelled him to the apex of masculine Hollywood hotness. What do you think? Is Bradley Cooper really the sexiest man alive or did People screw someone else out of a title that was rightfully his? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
