Bryce Dallas Howard is giving this pregnancy thing another go, after she suffered some pretty serious postpartum depression after the birth of her now-four-year-old son, Theo. The actress wrote an essay for Gwyneth Paltrow’s “GOOP” blog about the experience, saying she felt “Nothing” after giving birth to her first child with husband Seth Gabel. People.com released the news about the thirty-year-old actress’ pregnancy, who has been married to husband Gabel since 2006.

After she was diagnosed with "severe post-partum depression", Howard met with groups of women going through the same thing; basically an AA group for the mom’s in the world who actually felt worse after squeezing a baby out of their body. It’s a remarkable syndrome, one that the Eclipse was able to battle with the help of these groups and Brooke Shields’ book, “Down Came the Rain”. Shields also battled post-partum depression, so her thoughts were especially helpful to Howard.
"Do I wish I had never endured postpartum depression? Absolutely. But to deny the experience is to deny who I am," "I .. feel deep gratitude for those who stood by me, for the lesson that we must never be afraid to ask for help."
After the actress’ well documented battle with postpartum depression, the big story will be about how she handles the birth of this second child nine months from now.
