Sandra Bullock has confirmed she has filed for divorce from her husband Jesse James and she is a new mother - she secretly adopted a baby boy in January (10). The Oscar-winning actress walked out on James in March (10) after tattooed model Michelle McGee went public with claims of an 11-month affair with the TV mechanic.

It has now been revealed the news came just months after the couple adopted little Louis Bardo Bullock, a three-and-a-half-month-old boy who was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Bullock has unveiled her son with an exclusive photoshoot in America's People magazine, confirming she began the adoption process four years ago. The Blind Side star also reveals the couple brought Louis home in January (10), but decided to keep the news private until after the Academy Awards in March (10).

She tells the magazine, "He's just perfect, I can't even describe him any other way... It's like he's always been a part of our lives. I did not want him brought into a world that would not have been too sincere to him as I wanted. I wanted to be alone with him as long as I could, then we had to tell his story.”

The actress has also confirmed her marriage to James is definitely over - she's filed legal papers to start divorce proceedings and make the split official. She says, "Yes, I have filed for divorce. I'm sad and I am scared."

Bullock will now continue the adoption on her own, but hopes that "one day" James will be able to be a father to little Louis, she adds, "I really don't know how our paths will intersect in the future, but the father I have known Jesse to be... is one that I hope Louis can experience one day, no matter how Jesse and I go on with our lives. Maybe I needed this to happen so I could be the best mother to Louis. We wouldn’t know the sweet moments in life unless we had the pain. And painfully, I’m going to miss so much.” (LR/WNWCPL/ZN)
