Gerard Butler is relieved he flopped as a lawyer - because he would never have found fame and success in Hollywood.

The Scottish actor graduated from law school in his native Glasgow and landed a job as a trainee solicitor. He only turned his back on his love of law and took up acting after he was cruelly axed just before completing his training contract.

Butler tells Us Magazine, "I was one week away from qualifying as a lawyer, and I was fired... That was the worst day of my life, now it's the best day of my life." (IG/US/MJ)
