In one of the stranger media denials of all-time, Chris Brown’s publicist was forced to put out a statement today telling fans his client’s new tattoo isn’t a picture of Rihanna’s battered face. The artwork began attracting huge buzz earlier this month after close-ups of the neck ink appeared to show a woman’s face, half beautiful and half battered with a black eye. Given what happened between Brown and Rihanna, many speculated it was a macabre and unsettling reminder of the violence inflicted. You can take a look at the tattoo below...

Not surprisingly, it turns out the truth is far less morally ambiguous. Brown’s publicist told E! Online the tattoo is actually a reinterpretation of a cosmetic ad that was an homage to Mexico’s Day of the Dead. You can take a look at the explanation below…
”His tattoo is a sugar skull and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported. It is peeling right now."
I’m not sure why Brown would be excited enough about the sugar skill design to have it tattooed on his neck, but regardless of the reason, I’m sure it signifies something special to him. If he offers any more of an exhaustive explanation, we’ll bring it to you. Otherwise, rest easily knowing this has nothing to do with RiRi.
