Christina Hendricks Doesn't Want Children

Christina Hendricks doesn’t want a baby, and doesn’t think she ever will. The actress stated in a recent interview that she and her husband Geoffrey Arend have no plans to have a child in the near future. Sure, she plays a single mother on Mad Men, which premiered last night, but unlike her character Joan, she's more than content with a different kind of responsibility: her puppy. She always tell her that having a puppy will change her mind, but she disagrees…

"People say, 'Oh, that's practice for parenting,' but if it's practice for anything it's to be a mom to another puppy. We've decided that we are not really interested in having children."

To be honest, the shocking part of this ABC News interview for me personally was not the headline. It completely blew my mind that Christina Hendricks is 38 years old! I maybe would’ve put her in her early to mid thirties at best but never would’ve thought she was close to 40. Now I’m looking at a list of 38 year old actors and I’m even more shocked at that list. Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, 50 Cent, and Charlize Theron?! Why does everyone look so young still?

As Mad Men draws to a close, Hendricks has other projects coming up in 2014. Currently she is slated to star in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut in How To Catch A Monster which will be released this October. The film follows a single mother and her son who are swept into a secret underground city. Not too much has been publicized on the film except it will also feature Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

Hendricks is also slated to appear in two other films in 2014. A Book of Common Prayer is a film where Hendricks plays an American in a fictitious Central American country on the verge of revolution. The second film Dark Places follows a woman whose family is brutally murdered in her childhood and a secret society works to solve the crime.
