Dick Van Dyke Forced To Cancel Public Appearance Because Of Health Problems
Beloved comedian Dick Van Dyke was scheduled to receive a lifetime achievement award later this month for the decades he’s spent making the world a better place, but unfortunately, the eighty-seven-year-old has been forced to pull out of the event because doctors have advised him not to fly. Apparently, he’s been suffering from “sleep disturbing cranial throbbing”, and until doctors are able to figure out why it’s happening and how to treat it, he’s better off spending more time inside his Malibu, California residence.
Here’s a portion of a statement his representative gave to Entertainment Weekly…
”With his strong constitution and years of daily physical activity Dick is otherwise OK, but the fatigue factor has become acute.”
The event was to take place in New York City at the 92nd Street Y, and the award in question is called the Lifetime Achievement Award for Bettering Humanity through Comedy. Given his incredible stature in the comedy world and his loveable personality, something tells me everyone involved will find a more appropriate time to honor the Dick Van Dyke Show star.
Van Dyke doesn’t exactly pack his schedule in with as much work as possible, but over the past decade or so, he’s continued to contribute via movies like Night at The Museum and Curious George. Here’s to hoping he gets better sooner rather than later in order to give humanity plenty of more smiles before he dances off stage left.
