More than 30 original ELVIS PRESLEY movie scripts and song sheets were among the memorabilia items destroyed when Kashan Castle in Malibu, California was destroyed by fire on Sunday (21Oct07).

Owned by philanthropist and collector Lilly Lawrence, the famous landmark, also known as Malibu Castle and Hodge Castle, was one of the first buildings to succumb to the Malibu wildfires. Lawrence tells the New York Daily News, "Gone are 32 or 33 original movie scripts of Elvis. They were his personal scripts, with all his notes in the margins. "All the music for Heartbreak Hotel and American Trilogy, my favourite (are also gone). Untold things from Graceland. It's just devastating."

However, firefighters were able to save Presley's Nash Metropolitan car and his U.S. Army jacket before the flames swept in.
