Rocker Elvis Costello has become an unlikely roller derby fan.

The British star was persuaded to visit a recent rollerskating clash in Los Angeles by a pal - and he has become hooked. The Oliver's Army hitmaker says, "They're reviving it and I had such a ball. I didn't think I would like it - a lot of girls going around bashing each other up, but they're great. They (roller derby girls) have fantastic names, like The Fig Lebowski." (KL/WNVFAL/PAW)
