Explosions In The Sky Release Their First Music Video
By Joseph Giannone 3 years ago
Explosions In The Sky is a band that you’ve probably never heard of. That’s not entirely your fault either, because with 12 years and 6 albums under their belt the band has never released a music video. I know it seems odd that a group doesn’t release any music videos for their songs, but if you’ve ever listened to Explosions then you know their music holds no ground for video. Though with this new video from the band, it begs the question: why haven’t they made videos all along? This work is epic. It’s a trippy space opera told through animation. Check out their first music video for the song “Last Known Surroundings” compliments of Wired.com:
If you hadn’t noticed, Explosions is similar to an orchestra, slowly building its element of sounds layering on top of each other to create a symphony of guitars, bass, drums, strings, and horns that make for a complex listen. That’s why this new music video of theirs is amazing, it’s a perfect environment for them to show off trippy visuals and overwhelm their audience in sight and sound. The animation is creative, unique, and everything a Explosions In The Sky music video should be. Well done.
For those interested, Explosions is going on tour starting July 14th in Salt Lake City. I highly suggest checking them out, they're impeccable live. Here are their tour dates:
