Never-before-seen paintings by folk music icon Bob Dylan are set to go on display for the first time in a Danish museum exhibition this month (Sep10). Denmark's National Gallery is displaying 40 acrylic paintings made specifically for Dylan's Brazil Series exhibition, which includes figurative scenes from Brazil's slums, farms and beaches painted by the star.

The 69-year-old singer sketched the scenes during visits to South American country and painted them on canvas in a studio.

In a statement released by the museum on Thursday (02Sep10), Dylan explains: "I chose Brazil as a subject, because I have been there many times and I like the atmosphere."

The exhibition is scheduled to open on Friday (03Sep10) for a limited run until 30 January (11). (JMA/WNWA/IG)
