Fox Receives Medicine Honorary Degree

Michael J. Fox is to be awarded an honorary degree from the organizers of the Nobel Prize for medicine and physiology.

The Teen Wolf actor was diagnosed with progressive neurological condition Parkinson's disease in 1991, and has since raised $175 million to fund research into developing drugs to help sufferers.

He has now been chosen to receive an honorary doctorate in medicine in recognition of his good work by officials at Sweden's Karolinska Institute, who also decide the recipients of the Nobel Prize for medicine and physiology. Fox will be presented with his degree in New York on Friday (05Mar10). (MJ/WNWA/LR)
