Frank Ocean Cited For Marijuana Possession On New Year's Eve

On New Year’s Eve, singer and songwriter Frank Ocean was pulled over by police in Northern California. At the time of his citation, rumor had it that Ocean was busted by police for "lewd conduct" while driving. As is often the case, rumor was incorrect, and today, the Sheriff’s Office in Mono County, California confirmed that Ocean was pulled over for speeding and then cited for marijuana possession.

At 4:30 p.m. on December 31, the R&B artist was driving southbound in a black BMW on US Highway 395 near Yosemite National Park. According to NBC KNRV a Mono County Sheriff clocked him as a speeder on the highway and pulled him over. When he reached the car, the lawman reportedly smelled pot and asked to search the car.

Obviously, the search turned up some pot, leading to the citation and the wild rumors that followed. Clearly it wasn’t a crazy large quantity of the drug, as Ocean was only given a citation for the marijuana. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old’s license had already been suspended and the local NBC affiliate is also stating his license has been revoked. Earlier on Thursday, Ocean responded on Twitter to the event, behaving bluntly and unapologetically about the pot.

“hi guys, i smoke pot. ok guys, bye.”

I’d hardly say this is an Amanda Bynes driving disaster at this point, but I guess he’ll probably have to take a break from driving his fast BMW on American highways for a while.
